Where History Comes Alive: The Dmanisi Phenomenon Up Close
Sometimes, a school project goes beyond the classroom and turns into a real adventure.
This was the case with the long-term project "The Dmanisi Phenomenon - Historical Significance and Heritage," led by Georgian-American School history teacher Irma Titirashvili with students from class 10/1.
Throughout the project, students completed a comprehensive research journey that included:
In-depth analysis of historical sources
Exploration of academic and scientific literature
Development and production of a documentary film
Preparation of presentations in English
A highlight of the project was the field research component, during which students visited the Dmanisi archaeological site in person. There, they had the unique opportunity to witness history firsthand — observing active excavation sites and connecting their theoretical knowledge with a tangible historical environment.
At the project's conclusion, students presented their research findings, documentary film, and presentations to a broad audience and were awarded certificates in recognition of their outstanding work.
