Members of the Georgian-American School's Model United Nations (MUN) Club recently participated in the Youth Model United Nations 2025 conference, organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, in collaboration with the Youth Agency.
The conference is modeled on actual UN working sessions and serves as an educational simulation where participants, acting as delegates of UN member states, discuss pressing international issues following the procedures of international assemblies.
GAS MUN Club Delegates: Elene Gagua, Dachi Kurkhuli, Nino Andghuladze, Magda Zurabashvili, and Marita Gurgenidze represented the school across several committees:
United Nations General Assembly:
Climate Change and Sustainable Development: New Approaches to Overcoming the Environmental Crisis
Global Economic Inequality and Its Impact on International Security
United Nations Security Council:
Cybersecurity and the Threat of Hybrid Warfare to Global Stability
Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence and the Need for International Regulation
UN Women (Commission on the Status of Women):
Gender Equality in the Labor Market: Economic Empowerment and Women's Independence
Women's Participation in Decision-Making: Political Representation and Leadership
Over two intensive days, participants engaged in discussions and debates on these critical topics. Each committee analyzed existing challenges and drafted resolutions, which were presented during the conference's closing session.
Through this experience, GAS MUN Club members developed valuable skills in international diplomacy, critical thinking, public speaking, and collaborative problem-solving—competencies that will serve them well in both academic and future professional endeavors.
